Making The Hats - Wax
Wax hats are made from 100% wax cotton - available in plain or tartan, combined with a contrasting fabric, 100% cotton velvet or an alternative check fabric.
As with Silk hats, wax hats are made to suit each customers individual requirements, with different brim sizes & styles; if a non-standard size is required we will gladly make the hat according to your measurements.
Each part of the hat is hand-cut from flat pattern pieces, interfacing is inserted & the wax parts sewn together. After the crown and the brim have been joined the lining is sewn in, then finished with the required trim or simply left plain.
Trims come in the form of sashes, wax bows and roses (for the dressier wax hat). All wax hats are waterproof, guaranteed to be durable whilst retaining a level of comfort only possible from bespoke design.
